I have an exclusion (although loosely worded, still an exclusion) in our insurance policy regarding weight loss surgery. I'm wondering if anybody knows or has read any studies or articles on what the chances are on winning an appeal if there is an exclusion. Of course the insurance company representative told me an exclusion is an exclusion - you can appeal and appeal and it won't do you any good. Elizabeth

Hello Elizabeth! I just recently took my first step in fighting an exclusion. I hired Gary (www.obesitylawyer.com) to help me, maybe you should email him from that link, he would be glad to help you I am sure. Good Luck! Who is you insurance company? Ruthann Jones

I have been considering hiring a lawyer to try to beat an exclusion and had checked out obesitylawyer.com. What is your experience with them so far? Has anyone else used this firm? Caryl Mauk

Hi Ruthann, I hope things go your way! Let us know how it works! I was told by my insurance company that no matter what I do, it won't matter. An exclusion is an exclusion. We'll see, I guess! I'm not getting my hopes up. I am seeing a surgeon for the first time on Friday, and we'll go from there. I did contact Walter Lindstrom (obesitylaw.com) and he agreed to take my case after I get that first denial letter. I have a very very uncommon insurance carrier - it's called Central Reserve Life. It's through my husband's employer. Elizabeth
