6 month diet with Cigna
I have Cigna. Shall I say anymore. I have been doing the 6 month diet thing and I was wandering 2 things. Will weigh-ins with the nurse count as a visit?. I think my doctors office calls it a nurses visit. Also, I have taken all of the pre-op testing, how long are they good for? I hope that I won't have to repeat them.
Help. I need feedback.
Thanks,
You might ask that your Dr. have written in his notes something like:
Diet program-- recorded monthly weigh ins. to be reviewed by Dr.
Then, if Cigna tries to pull the "it was only the nurse" stuff........ the Dr. notes say reviewed by Dr. If Cigna tries to complain, you can go with....... are you trying to be the Dr. now, and tell him how to do his job.... it was set up for his review.......... etc. It makes the insurance company look cheesy if they start to complain.......... and all the Drl has to do is go in and initial the weigh ins later, if he chooses before it is submitted.
I also have Cigna and they require that the 6 month diet be doctor supervised. So basically the nurses notes won't work. I'm in the 2nd month of the supervised diet and what I did was schedule a appt with him every month till June. He has to have specific information in his notes - weight, physical activity, diet & how you feel emotionally so you actually have to sit and visit with him. I was told by Cigna that if this info is not in his notes, they dont count. They are being very strict with this. I'm not sure about the testing. I've also done alot of pre-op testing and since my surgeon requested it already, I assume it's so I can get started on any treatments I might need (co morbs).
Hope that helps. I found out alot of info on www.cignassqueakywheels.com (yahoo). Good luck!
