Has anyone been approved by Humana-Military (Tricare)?

Has anyone been approved by Humana-Military (Tricare)? If so I was wondering how long it took to get your authorization. I originally tried for lap-band, and Tricare gave me a denial within 3 days after the authorization letter had been faxed to them. I then had to wait 3 weeks to get another appointment with another doctor to do Open RNY (same office just a different doctor)as the original doctor did not do this procedure only lap. My doctor submitted my letter last Thursday and she got a return fax saying that I had been denied already. This boggles me because when I called Tricare they said that the only denial they had in the system for the lap-band. I had my doctor re-fax it again last Friday and Tricare still has not gotten it. Every rep tells me something different about how long it should take to enter the system 1 said 3 days another said 5-10 days. My own experience tells me 3 days. I asked my doctor to re-fax it again yesterday, but they got snooty with my on the phone telling that it may take awhile for them to enter into the system and that they can't keep re-faxing it for me on a weekly basis. I'm sure she's right, but I can't help but be impatient. This waiting game stuff sucks! Amy

You might do better to call and ask if you are approved yet? (Every day.... they may get tired to hearing that and fax your stuff to get done with you faster.)

Amy, Why are you trying for open RNY,because Tricare does approve lap RNY now.It was changed around November.I'm trying for lap band.LONG STORY.Have been denied twice.It did take about a month.I have been told the RNY,you will get answer sooner.Call Tricare and they should tell you that open is NOW a approved item.
