Today I called Aetna, you know just to see how my claim was going. Then there was this pause, the really long kind. The lady comes back and says...... DENIED. I says WHAT!!! WHY!!! We don't have documentation of a BMI over 40 for you. I says WHAT!!! My BMI is 69 Lady, I'm 5'11 @ 499lbs, you do the math. M@#$$%@ F^%$^%$ insurance companies need to be KANED like that kid all those years ago down in South Pacific. Sorry I had to vent, I have been going crazy all day. I found this out at work of all places, so you can imagine the day I've had. To everyone how has successfully appeal with Aetna, please any information you can provide, I would be eternally greatfull. Bert

thanks for your support, i've done everything required, all blood work, u/a, chest x-ray, ultrasound for gall bladder, nutritional and psycological assessment, and six month doctor supervised dieting. that is what is so frustrating. i've done everything that they asked of me, and still they want to play games.

If that's all they did was turn you down for not having documentation of a BMI over 40 then get that documentation from your Doctor and resubmit the paper work again to the insurance company. Good luck Donna

Thanks Donna, I had the information faxed over to Aetna again on 1/14/05. It was just so frustrating, I've never had to deal with insurance companies before. This is all new to me. Sorry if it seems petty, I know others are having a much harder time, and my prayers are with them. Bert

There is nothing to be sorry about. Nothing is petty when it comes to our health and happiness. We are all here to help, listen, so vent away anytime you wish. I'm always here to listen as I have been there and done that. Donna

I just thought I'd warn you that Aetna has "not received" both a mailed and a faxed appeal of mine - you might want to follow up with a copy via certified mail - I'm in the midst of an endless waiting game. Even with Gary Viscios help they still do this stuff. Good luck!
