This is not really a health insurance question for surgery, but I am having a ton of problems getting life insurance (self-employed) and I was wondering if anyone on here has had any success and with what companies. I am 5'11', 335. I do have sleep apnea, asthma, thyroid disease and depression, but my blood work is good, great even for my size. Please let me know if you know of any "obesity" friendly life insurance companies. Thanks, Eric

The only way you will get life insurance is through an employee benefit plan sponsored through your employer, or your spouses employer. Even then, you will be lucky to get 2x your salary. The underwriting criteria will not allow for Morbid Obesity. Even though your blood work is good now, you are at a mu*****reased rate of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. The actuaries know that it won't be long until your bloodwork starts to show a downward trend. Sorry. The good news is that WLS is an amazing surgery. It gave me my health, and my life back in an unbelievably short time. Get the surgery, and then you will be able to buy as much life insurance as you want within a year or two. Fight the good fight!
