I have two questions: I got approved for a Tummy Tuck, while the Doc office is saying they use the same code as the pannus removal and that is really all I got approved for not the tightening of the muscle wall, etc... Any thought on this? The insurance gal said she request that for all and starting the meeting saying I was approved for the muscle wall tightening and then switched it to say I wasn't. I feel almost as if she didn't make that request. The letter says "EXCISION, EXCESS SKIN AND SUBCUT TISSUE(INCL LIPECTOMY) ABDOMEN 1 TIME(s) - Coverage for this service has been approved. I can't tell if the request was made for the tightening, by that line. Anyone can confirm this for me? Second I got declined for the thigh lift, but want to know if I can/should call the insurance myself and issue an appeal letter myself, etc? MD office Insurance girl says Aetna is changing their approval process and making it stricter as of the first of the year, etc. She sort of gave me the impression it wasn't worth it to appeal. Thoughts? Thanks Bj/D

Your surgeon should be able to work that out. It appears as though you have coverage for what you want. Thigh's are tougher. You need to show a medical reason why you require it. Speak to your doctor about what you can do, but get the tt done since they're going to pay.
