UHC POS help

My Dr. is faxing papers today for preauthorization. Their office and I called and could not get a list of requirements for preauth. from them. Do to the hospital being out of network but the doctor not, I have talked the hospital into accepting my insurance coverage as payment in full but they require the surgery before Jan. 1. My understanding from UHC is that I won't have a clinical manager assigned until they get this preauth. request today. Since my time for approval and surgery is quite limited does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to pay for extra psyc. evals etc if they aren't required but all UHC would tell me was they needed hgt, wt, bmi and dx codes. Any suggestions? I also don't want to call UHC too soon and not play the game right or put ideas in their head. (Like telling them I need it because I have this deal with an out of network hospital) Help. Nancie
