Is everyone having trouble with Tricare

I was denied for lap band on Nov.3rd.Have not received the denial letter yet,but was told over the phone.Said they didn't cover the Lap Band ANY HELP OUT THERE!!!!!!! Shirley

Hi Shirley, I have been dealing with TriCare Prime for about a year and trying to get approved for Gastric Bypass. For the past year that I have been researching, they have never covered the lap band...they will cover Open RNY (or lapriscopic RNY if it is a routine proceedure at the Medical Treatment Facility). Do a search on google for "tricare gastric bypass" and the first result should be tricares requirements for gastric bypass and what they cover - here it is without the www in front of it tricare.osd.mil/faqs/question.aspx?ID=1218) Any other questions, feel free to email me.
