Please help me; denied because of 5 years morbid obesity records
Hello, I have seen some advise Gary and others have given over the past couple months and thought maybe you could give me a few pointers for an appeal letter that is case specific.
I found out today that I was denied by Aetna HMO because my medical records do not show morbid obesity for 5 years. I do have some records off and on throughout the years that indicate morbid obesity but not a full five years worth I guess. I seemed to go to the doctor a lot when I was on diets, I have yo yo'd severly for the past five years so I am afraid it looks like I was not really morbidly obese in my records.
How should I appeal this? Should I add in more of my family history?? (All my brothers and sisters and parents are, or was, morbidly obese... I even have a brother who is 500 lbs). I am the baby (only 20 years old) out of six siblings, and what is most scary is that they are all very unhealthy due to their weight now, and at my age, they were not even as heavy as I am currently! All aunts and uncles on BOTH sides are Obese.. and my grandmother is on the verge of death only at age 76 because of obesity. Would it help to send them pictures of my family.... pushing the genetic issue?? I have a BMI of 43, have done the 6 months of diet history and it is just the medical records of morbid obesity that is keeping them from approving me.
PLEASE! I have been in tears all day, I am so afraid for my future..... Any idea's to put into an appeal or just some support or advise would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much.
