Insurance avoiding....
Find out exactly what they need if you go the 6 months. Don't turn around in six months and find out they wanted a certain doctor or they dont want your surgeon's office to supervise you or a nutritionist connected with your surgeon. Lately they have even decided weigh****chers isnt good enough in some plans. Get what they need in writing, and follow it. You shouldnt have any problems then.
Good luck

Lately it seems like so many insurance companies have their heads up their butts when it comes to WLS.
Forgive me for being so bitter. I get so tired of reading and receiving emails from people that get the run around and all these people want is to live a nice long and happy life like the rest of those SOB'S that are pencil thin and pushing papers across their desk stamped DENIED!!! If ALL of them they came out and started meeting we obese people they would have a better understanding and maybe have some compassion in their hearts.

As far as the weight loss goes...
Any weight you lose will only help you and your surgeon during the operation. Let's face it - if we could lose enough weight dieting, none of us would need surgery.
Of course, if you lose enough weight that you no longer are at least 100 pounds overweight or your BMI gets too low, you will no longer qualify for surgery.
Another good thing to do is call your insurance company and ask them if there is going to be ANY changes in the year 2005 when it comes to WLS.
They told me 6 months of dieting but failed to tell me that it was changing and I would need a year of dieting. I went through the 6 months of dieting only to be slapped across the face.
