Hello, This is the information I received from my insurance Co. (Preferred One, Principal ) Obesity; "Surgical treatment will be limited to a maximum of $2,000.00 per lifetime" Huh ?? This is horrible news! How can this be possible? if the surgery is over 15-20k Im in desperate need of advice, what should I do? My dr. is doing all the paperwork, writing a letter of medically necessity & submitting my claim next week. Is there any way around this ?? PLEASE HELPPPPPP

Hopefully, it was a typo, and they meant $20,000.00 lifetime. I would suggest that you start researching this with your company. I have never seen an exclusion like that in a medical policy at such a low amount.

Victoria, I have come across limits as low as $1,500.00. It basically is a way for them to exclude the surgery without really excluding it. When you get the denial you'll need to appeal the amount allowed as unreasonable and a veiled exclusion etc.. Like I said the worst one was 1,500. I've seen them higher, but under 10 or 15 grand is idiotic. Good luck Gary www.obesitylawyers.com
