I am sick of the run around at my insurance company. I have met their requirements and am still not approved. I have contacted obesitylaw.com and will probably have them help me with the appeal process. Dana

Hi Dana, Altho I haven't used his services, I am looking into hiring a lawyer, possiably him, or Gary, here on the message boards. I was at my support group last night and a woman there paid Walter $800.00, and within 4 months was having her surgery. He charges 2 rates, $450.00 & $800.00, I'm scraping the money for the $800.00 now. Reguardless who I hire I'll still need to pay them. Cynthia

I hired him. Paid him 1200 and nothing was done for months until finally he dropped my case after a denial. I used obesitylawyers and gary, sorry, just my humble opinion and i know I am not alone. Ask anyone you chose for references, see who contacts you quicker and provides more information. Good luck.

Hi Laura, Why did he charge 1200? He quotes 450/800. What a total disappointment! I'm sorry he wasn't able to do get the approval for you. So you hired Gary and he was able to help you then? I sent Gary an email last night, and hope to hear from his office soon. Cynthia

Walter breaks every appeal down into seperate payments. So if you pay 450 and lose, you end up paying another 750.

Regardless of who you choose, make sure you have final approval of all communications sent to the insurance company BEFORE it is sent. Read over everything with a fine tooth comb. Make sure that the issue of your denial is addressed, and that your appeal is not a form letter addressing issues not in dispute in your claim. Read the appeal checking for inaccuracies, grammatic errors, and typographical errors. It's your money, and your life, so make sure you retain control over the finished product. Fight the good fight!
