BCBS Denied Me.....

At least I'm not surprised or else I'd be a big (pun intended) mess...mostly I'm just depressed....feeling like this won't happen for me. They said it didn't meet their guidelines for medical necessity. Which is BS! My BMI is 46 AND I have Co-Morbs...have been fat for 4 out of the last 5 years, etc. Oh well... I really don't feel much like talking at this point but did want to let you guys know. So many have been asking and I thank you for caring. I'll be ok. Thanks, Myra

Appeal it, don't give up!!! They turned me down and I'm appealing and they are dragging their feet but on Monday I go back to my PCP and we shall try again to get me approved for WLS. Donna

APPEAL,APPEAL,APPEAL, I have some great letters that will assist you in handling this without the added expense of an attorney. your BMI is enough to qualify you for this proceedure.

Did they deny you for lap or RNY? RNY is usually approved pretty quickly with BCBS. I know they will deny lap based on it being "investigational" which is BS. I have BCBS with state employees and having the same problems getting lap approved. I was given the senior medical directors name to write a plea to. I am trying to get enough people to write him so the company will change their mind concerning lap band. Let me know if you want the address.
