Hi Aetna people, I am looking at the Aetna policy about WLS, and it seems that they only approve LapBand if you are considered high risk for RNY. I do not believe I am high risk for RNY, but I am not getting it. The only way I will do this is if I get the band. I feel very strongly about this. Has anyone dealt with Aetna as far as getting or applying for the band even though they are not high risk for RNY? I looked at the insurance info list already (that I could find anyway,) and no one mentioned anything like that. Thanks, Bev

Hey Bev..... I have been posting your exact question here on OH and in yahoo groups for the past few months with no response. I would like to think that there are Aetna bandsters that exsist , but maybe they are out enjoying life. But I truely don't believe it. They only info I can gather from otherpeers on the net is that it's impossible to get banded with aetna unless you meet their criteria. I am seriously considering self pay. Theres a doc close to me that is one of the most experienced band docs in the U.S. and he offers a cash payment option. So I might just go ahead and pay ouot of pocket. Let me know if you find an answer from aetna bandsters. Happy Hunting! Natalie

Yeah... I am starting to get that feeling too. I don't want to go into debt for self-pay right now so I think I am going to have to wait. I will still apply to Aetna and see what they say, but at least I won't be shocked at a rejection. Thanks, Bev
