I have jumped through all the hoops Cigna has asked me to jump through. My PCP has done a pier to pier with a Medical Director and Cigna cannot seem to find out who that person was so they are asking that my PCP do this again. I have several conditions that would benefit from having this surgery. I am 32 years old. I am 5'3 weighing 320 pounds. I have already had 2 blood clots in my right lung. I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension as a result of the blood clots. Severe Asthma and High Blood Pressure. All of these conditions have been related to Morbid Obesity. My doctors have explained to Cigna that if I had the surgery and lost the weight my conditions would be eliminated all together. Cigna only seems to look through a list of qualifications and if one thing is off then you are denied. Cigna does not however see the conditions someone has and how they could be granting a person a chance at a long lasting life. My family has stated if I die then they will hold Cigna personally responsible. Cigna does not seem to know what each department is doing and cannot answer any questions when you call. They can only say you were denied. They lose the information. They don't log the information and don't seem to care. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jennifer, If you would like, you can contact me at 337-433-1303 on Monday. I have never lost an appeal to Cigna. My name is Marcie and I am the Bariatric Coordinator for Keith Chung, M.D. in Lake Charles, Louisiana. You can check us both out by logging on to Dr. Chung's area in the Louisiana Bariatric Surgeon section. You can also check us out at www.obesitysurgeryla.com Even if for some strange reason, you should still be denied, I know of an excellent attorney who loves to take on Cigna cases. Call me - I can help you. Marcie

Jennifer, This is very very common with CIGNA. You need to keep hammering at them until a real person sees the appeal. You are getting typical treatment and in fact don't think you were denied until you actually see the letter because one side doesnt know what the other is doing. You need to keep pressing them and if denied, continue on. Based on what you said I don't see any problem, the only problem is with CIGNA nad how they treat people. Good luck Gary Viscio www.obesitylawyers.com
