Evening everyone, After some heavy thought and much talking to family and friends I have decided to get Gary Viscio to represent me. www.Obesitylawyers.com I'm really mad over the fact that BCBS put in writing that it's only 6 months of dieting and now they want a year. Then another person at BCBS tells me my husbands insurance don't even cover WLS. HELLO!! why did they put it in writing then. They tell me they have NO book on what is covered. Someones is not dealing with a full deck Wish me luck everyone. Donna

good luck Donna! I was going to email you, but saw your post here instead. I'm still waiting to hear from insurance. Keep me updated with your progress. Heather

Thanks Heather for the support I go pick up all my paper work from Dr. koren's office today and then I'll be having lunch with my girlfriend so we can make sure I have *ALL* the paper work in order and ready to ship off to Gary and let's hope the best man wins "ME"!! In all honesty. It's either the insurance company wins or me. I have come so far to let the insurance company think they have won. Even if I don't win I can at least have the satisfaction of knowing that I tried. Let's see if Gary can make them see it our way and that's. Donna should fall under the 6 months, not the new policy of a year of dieting. Donna

Good luck Donna!! I too am jumping through hoops for BCBS of Ill. I just received a letter requesting the 12 month supervised diet history. I called BCBS and told them that they had verbally told me 6 months was needed when I called on 1/8/04. The representative said "Nope, we have always required 12 months." Huh!?! I didn't get it in writing, so shame on me! Amy

Don't shame yourself, it's a learning exprience as you go along when it comes to WLS and insurance companies. I wish I knew what I know now a year ago. Sadly, BCBS Of Ill gives you a different song an dance every time you call them and we learn from our mistakes but I'm learning that EVERYONE should ALWAYS ask for it in writing. Same as writing down the name and ext number of the person your talking to. If you don't get a letter within a week then call back and tell them. I called on this date and talked to so and so at ext# and I asked for this information in writing and I WANT it in writing. Be nice and smile so you get what you want One lady at BCBS of ILL named Jackie told me a year when I called in Jan. of 2004 but then I called back a few days later and got a young man telling me they go case by case and to send in my paper work for my 6 months of dieting. I did ask for it in writing and he sent me the same letter that I recieved back in 2003 stating 6 months ONLY of dieting. I'm using Gary because I know he has the knowledge and back ground on how to fight these insurance Companies. I'll keep everyone posted on how things go. Donna
