They said that I would qualify medically but they require that you be 100 lbs overweight.

How far from 100 pounds are you? It may be easier to gain a few pounds to be within their guidelines than to get all of the weight off on your own. YOu have to know in your heart of hearts that you have truly tried to lose weight in the past and this is your last option. Jane

I will have to put on another 30-40 lbs to be 100 lbs overwt. With my health problems, I would be really sick gaining this much weight. My primary doc is wanting this surgery done due to severe problems I am having with my stomach. I weigh 190 and am 5'1".I have spent the better part of the last 3 years in and out of the hospital every other months for 10 to 15 days at a time for stomach problems. They have been talking about putting a feeding tube in, but if I can get this surgery done that will alleviate the problem and get rid of this extra weight. I have never been succesful in losing wt. Not even 10 lbs or less. I just want to live my life normal and not spend 99% of my time in the hospital ill.
