My primary insurance has a specific exclusion for wls, so I don't think I have a prayer of getting them to budge on that, but what I was curious about is secondary insurance.
I have heard of people getting denied by their primary and having a secondary policy pick up the cost. Has anyone pursued getting a secondary insurance policy to cover this? Are there any companies out there that even do that? I wouldn't mind having a secondary in any case because of spotty coverage my primary has, but I have never had secondary before so I don't know how that works.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

You will need to submit for approval to both. If you get approval from the second and a denial from the first, all you will have to do is treat the secondary as your primary. The only difference is that when the doctors submit thier bill to your secondary is that they will need to include the primary denial. This is VERY common and your doctors will know what to do. You would be surprised how many people have not only one insurance, but three or four.
I worked for UHC paying claims doing just this. It is so common that thousands of people pay insurance claims specializing in multiple coverages. And there are federal laws stating who has to pay and when.
Good luck!
