Hello everyone. Im sure there has to be at least a zillion others who are going thru this problem as I am... I have finished all of my tests for WLS as requested by my Insurance co. Anthem BCBS. I am just waiting for my doctors nurse to send in the forms...heres the problem.. I have no medical history of any sort. Without going into a long story..there is no way I can send any thing with my weight on it from before last July...I changed PCP's and hadnt been to my other one in over four years..in any attempt to get ahold of any kind of documentation...from past diet attempts at clinics, diet doctors..etc. I have hit dead ends on all counts. So this is where I find myself. The policy I have states specifically that what I need is nonsurgical weight loss attempts listed and fully appraised by the physician that is seeking approval for the surgery. So my surgeon listed everything I had told him I tried...and believe me the list is extensive. I am PRAYING that I get approved with just this...and I have had tons of comorbidities as well as a BMI of 60%. (Im currently 385 from 410..been trying to take some off before the surgery itself.) So is there someone who this has happened to? Or someone who knows for certain if I'll be approved or denied...??? The uncertainty is killing me!! Thanks! Denise

There are no guarantees. I think sometimes it depends on the weather. If you document everything as best as you can, then you wait and hope for a good response. These "requirements" are nonsene, against the NIH recommendations and normally open to interpretation when present against your State's law. Good Luck Gary Viscio www.obesitylawyers.com
