I just read a post about someones policy excluding the surgery because they didnt have a gastric bypass rider. Roberta said that a rider is an addition to the plan that is purchaced to expand coverage in the basic plan. I am wondering who purchaces the rider? and could this help if you have an exclusion in your policy. Thank you ! Wanda Engblom......

Your employer has to elect to add this as a rider. If your policy has an exclusion with the exception of MEDICAL NECESSITY, then you will be fine. Your doctor just has submit the proper documentation to support your claim. VAL

Right, they would have to purchase the rider. Most exclusions can be fought under state law anyway. Even if it doesnt except medical necessity, most State Laws do. Keep fighting Gary Viscio www.obesitylawyers.com
