Got my denial letter this week. It was denied due to my policy not having a gastric bypass rider. Anyone have any clue as to what this means?? I have Southern Health.

Sometimes when an employer buys insurance for their employees, they buy the kind that will NOT pay for WLS. I guess it's the mind set that 'you got yourself fat, don't expect us to pay to get you thin'. Drug problem? Hey, we cover that. Anorexic? We cover that too! Alcoholic? Well that's NOW a diease so we'll cover that little thing for ya too. But FAT? Well, get out of the pig pen and away from the swill if you want to lose weight. Sorry, just tired of people acting like we are 3rd class citizens!

You have a basic plan that excludes WLS. A "rider" is an addition to the plan that is purchased to expand coverage for additional benefits not covered in the basic plan. Hope that helps...
