TO: Roberta A.
Hi Roberta, I have been reading some of your posts and i find you are really knowledgeable of the loop holes involving the ins. companies and the loops they make the avg. person jump through. I was wondering if you could answer this question for me: I have first health network insurance and was told they do not cover anything for weight reduction. However the lady i talked to told me in cases of morbid obesity they would cover all appts. up to the actually surgery, but not the surgery itself. Does that make any sense to you? I also have a very large hernia that i know would be covered (had one removed before), and was wondering is it acceptable to have this done at the same time as wls and if the ins. would fight me on approval of the hernia removal even if they have covered it before? Sorry for such a long post. Thank you in advanced for any help offered( or even if you can't offer any). Jillian
i am not Roberta,bUt i read your post and i am currently having problems with my insurance company as well. the pretty much said the same thing as yourself and that it is a total exclusion. I guess we could be dying from obesity and they just dont care so i want to see what i can do to appeal it. I'm hoping that Roberta can help out.
My best friend had the same problem, they covered everything and the week of surgery they received a denial. The office here said that happens alot so the patients fight it. And I do know of a guy who was having a hernia operation and wanted a lap band and they would only cover the hernia. Until he used Gary and he got him approved. Try emailing gary viscio [email protected] his office handlies these rotten companies.
This is so weird. I could have SWORN I answered this post, but I don't see anything here.
First of all, NEVER take anything a customer (no)service rat tells you over the phone as gospel. Read your plan carefully! Look under exclusions, what does it say there?
Let me know, and we can go from there.
Keep your chins up!
Roberta
