help with question about insurance

could someone please to me how long do you have to be paying for your insurance, before you get a referral from your doctor for weightloss surgery. I just got my insurance this month ( january) and im waiting for my insurance card and paperwork, then Im picking a doctor to go to.

Hi- I got my insurance card in Dec and went for my first PCP visit that month. I asked if he thought WLS was for me and he said yes and wrote out a referal to a surgeon. I say as soon as you are paying a premium....you deserve to go to a dr and use it--good luck!!

kimberly, thanks for answering my question, I already know that my insurance will cover all but 2 thousand dollars of the cost for the surgery, so I will go ahead and get a pcp now. please feel free to write to me anytime you want to o.k.
