I am not currently insured, but I intend to get insured and have the surgery. I am wondering if anyone can recommend an company that has low rates and copay, and will aprove the surgery. Please let me know.

Just a word of warning.....stay away from Cigna insurance! Their rates may be low, but they are horrible to work with and almost always deny surgery the first time around. Good luck with your search.

Robin, In regards to which insurance would be best I would like to let you know that i have UnitedHealthcare, PPO and had surgery nov 25th, 2003 at BTC and the surgery was $64,000.00 and UHC covered it totally. As long as RNY gastric bypass is not excluded by your EMPLOYER uhc will cover this surgery basically no questions asked. no diet history or anything like that. I hope this helps. Jennifer A. Hi Robin...I found that when I went to get my health insurance (not that I can finally afford it) I was turned down by everyone because they said I was too overweight to get iT. Apparently, they have weight provisions. I finally found someone that would take me and my surgeon in Tulsa will accept it and its pay. It us through United American. They are awesome. My name is Jenn and you can call me if you want the information at 316-761-6987. They are a God send...

Don't you have a waiting period when you sign up for a new insurance company before they'll approve WLS? Donna
