Legislation to stop insurance co. from discriminating against the Obese.

Does anyone know of current legislation to force insurance companies to stop the discrimination of obese people? There needs to be, but I am not knowledgeable enough to write such a thing. I have written letters to Congress but they are all thin and healthy !!! They would never have been voted in if they were obese....... I also can't do it alone. Everyone needs to demand, from our government, that we are not discriminated against because of our weight !!! I am SICK of it !!! Kari

Kari there are a couple of States that are trying to pass legislation which prohibits insurers from excluding wls. I ran across sample legislation when I was researching on the net for my grievance hearing with my insurer (they reversed my denial). I don't remember which states but remember seeing at least two such sites. I was searching under google.com and using the search terms of "behavior modification" and "morbid obesity". Good luck. It will be difficult beating the insurance companies and their high paid lobbyists.
