The surgeons office I have chosen told me that Aetna now requires a recent 12 supervised weight loss program to be done before they will approve, period. Has anyone else run in to this absurdity? If so do you have any ideas on how to deal with it? I've wasted enough time,energy and money on diets for two lifetimes, don't need any more frustration. Thank You Mark.

Most insurance companies are requiring some documentation of dieting now. Unfortunately for you, Aetna posts this requirement as a bulletin on their website. Either do the diet, but not TOO successfully, or find another insurance company. Good luck to you.
