insurance denial

I have cigna insurance. My husband was told that if it is medically necissary, you would be aprooved. I submited the paperwork, I am working with Dr. Cliff Devvany at ohsu. the women that works on getting people approved said it was my problem. i submitted 53 pages of records for the past year. I have hypertension, execess fluid in my extremities, high cholesteral, elevating blood sugars, hypothyroidism, and i have had 3 emergancy abdominal hernias with at least 2 seperate hernias in each. i have had trapped bowel with many adhesions. I have sleep apnea and use a cpap. I have been denied twice and now am trying to get my primary care doc to call them and do a peer to peer. she could possibly get an approval during the call . this has been going on for a month. i am very discouraged. I am afraid my health will continue to get worse. I have called the appeals department on a daily bases. i am not alowed to speak to the physician that makes the decision. i feel very commited to this surgery, and the intense involvemet and changes i need to make. if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. my imail address is [email protected] my name is Kimberly. thank you very much. Hi there!!!! I too was denied 2x by CIGNA, but I won my 2nd level appeal...You are entitled to be included in the peer-to-peer call for the 2nd level, so make sure you do your homework to prepare, and insist that they allow you to be in on the call!!! Lots of luck to you!!!
