My Insurance is United Health Care EPO Arizona. While many people have had good experience with UHC, I just received my rejection notice due to my coverage. Baratric suregery and any kind of weight loss programs are not covered. This policy was written at the request of my employer PETsMART Inc. So if you are a PETsMART employee, you can forget about this potentially life saving surgery. It is ironic that the company and insurance company will end up spending much more money on drugs and treatment for me for the many medical problems that I have that could be improved through the surgery. I am having a sleep study tomorrow night and will probably have the insurance pay for the sleep aparatus. I am contacting an attorney dealing with Obeisity Claims to see if there is anything that I can do to get the decision reversed. Good luck to all of you in your journey to wellness.

Hey there; I am in the same boat, my hubby's insurance is with UHC and it is apparent that UHC leaves it up to the employer as to whether or not they want to make an exclusion for WLS. Of course, trying to collect info form your employer to find out is like pulling teeth... Good luck with the lawyer, I have heard some people on here talk about UHC that it was excluded and they got it overturned somehow ~Judith~

I have been rejected twice. it is the policy I have thru employment. the hospital is changing insurance jan 1. I will try again. there guidelines cover surgery only if one has been in a hospital approved weight reduction program for 6 months. Here we go again.
