An Aetna WIN!!!!

Read my profile for details but I had been with a program for almost a year that didnt' give a fig about even trying to put together a packet for Aetna approval. I changed offices and bingo- approved on first try! (You start over again at the beginning of the application process when you go to another provider- you don't continue the appeals) Print out those service bulletins and follow them word for word. Aetna WILL pay- they are just picky. Don't give up- just give them what they want. Be nice to the Aetna people too. Vicki and Anne in appeals gave me loads of good information and good support re: the appeals at the first surgeon's office. That information was invaluable later on. The Aetna 'grunts' aren't the bad guys. Listen and learn. Take heart- Aetna WILL pay for this surgery. Also, my reality check when I was whining for myself when I had to wait and shuffle paperwork was to think of the thousands of Americans that CAN'T even be considered for WLS because of employer exclusions or lack of insurance. I, at least, had hope while others had none. It will work with Aetna- hang in there!!

Congratulations Christie. How wonderful that feeling must be! My documents will be submitted to Aetna over the 2 weeks, I am so nervous! Glad to see they are approving. Best wishes.
