I have been refused insurance coverage by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois (PPO) for the open Roux-en-y procedure. I have treid numerous diets without success. I have also been diabetic for 15+ years with other co-morbid conditions. I have been prescribed Xenical for 6 months and have regular physicals with my physician, yet according to the ins co, I have not been on a medically supervised diet. Excuse me, but my Diabetic diet have been 1800 cal for years abd years and I am currently insulin resistant requiring 2 oral and insulin for minimal control. I would like help in fighting the ddtermination of the insurance company. In fact, we are thinking of legal recourse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sharon, From all of the research I have done including talking to insurance companies. Almost all insurance companies are requiring a 26 week medically supervised diet program. Even though you have been on your diabetic diet, they probably are looking for something like, Weigh****chers, diet from your physician etc. I know Cigna insurace requires 2 26 weight loss diet programs. Good Luck, Terry
