Insurance Wait Time????? HELP!

I was wondering if anyone good sooth my anxiousness today. I am waiting on the insurance part of the process to happen. I have Cigna HMO and unfortunatly I know they are going to deny because I have a written exclusion in the policy (I am a teacher). However, the good news is I have a secondary provider through my husbands insurance which is UHC. I have talked with them and they do in fact pay for the surgery. I know that Cigna recieved my info on October 2, 2003. They have to deny the claim before my surgeon can send it off to UHC. My questions is, has anyone out there had to go through anything similar to this and if so, what was the results? I would appreciate any info that you can give. Thanks, Marsha

Hey Marsha; I just thought I would add an idea of what I would do in this situation. I would call Cigna and ask to speak to a supervisor. I would just let them know that you want to know point blank if you are denied due to the exclusion. Just tell them "I want to know because if I am denied I need to start looking at other avenues for this surgery". I would ask for an answer on the phone and if they will confirm denial, ask for a fax to confirm that. Then you can use that to start with UHC. I have never been in this situation, but it seems to me that Cigna just drags their feet (and everyone else) behind them when all along they know what the outcome will be. Good luck!! ~Judith~
