Keep fighting the insurance company! There is an excellent group on Yahoo strictly for Cigna patients. You can get lots of help in fighting the insurnace company, letters of appeal, lawyers who deal with insurance denials etc. Check it out. I too have Cigna PPO, the more I read about it the worse it gets. They seem to deny everyone on the first go around, but don't give up! Appeal it, and keep fighting. Good Luck, Terry

Hi Peter, I too have SUCKY CIGNA, and have been denied 2x. I am hiring an attorney to fight my last and final appeal. I dont feel I have a chance of being approved if I dont. As it was mentioned before, yahoo has a group just for CIGNA people, go to yahoo groups under obesity and its called cignassqueakywheels. Great bunch of people and a WHOLE lot of info and help. Feel free to email me if you want more info/help [email protected] warmest wishes to you****Amanda

Hi Peter!!!! Don't stop fighting CIGNA!!! I just won after my 2nd level appeal conference call...Have you gotten that far yet? If you haven't, then go for it! If you have, what were the reasons for denial? If you needed the 2-26wk diet documentation, then get it for them. Unfortunately, it is in their written guidelines, so I don't think you can get around that-this was the reason I was denied twice. You must get CIGNA everything they require because insurance companies are making all WLS procedures more and more difficult to obtain. I know that CIGNA is extremely difficult to deal with, but if you want this surgery, you have to go through all the motions and play the game with them. They can be beat!!!! I did it, and so can you!!! Talk to your dr/surgeon and see what they can do to help you. Even call CIGNA to see what is missing from your claim so you can get the decision reversed to your favor. I don't know how fast I would contact an attorney-wait until you get the answers from everyone first before making a decision about investing even more of your cash with a lawyer. I don't know if I'm right, but I just think that all these insurance companies are just testing us to see if we will go away once they say no, and they keep stalling to see how far we will go to get the surgery so they don't have to pay for it. And, just remember, that every month that passes by with a no, they get to keep their (our) $$$ in the bank making interest so that when they finally say yes, at least they made some $$$ off off the interest. Keep fighting-you can do it! Regards, Andrea

Peter, the best advice from me to you is not to give up.......Give your insurance hell. Go through your appeals, and then contact your state insurance commissioner, and by gosh something will happen. It did for me. I have high blood pressure, high cholosterol, sleep apnea, I see a chiropracter every week for degenerative joints upper neck and lower back. I take zoloft for depression, I am 5'1" weight 240 lbs. BMI 45, about to die and those suckers said it was for cosmetic surgery. "Blue Cross Blue Shield,state/ I turned over to state insurance and they took care of it. Yes it has taken almost a year, many highs and many lows but I kept fighting. Hang in there it will happen. Now I can call BCBS and it's all about yes mam
