I WON!!!!

Hi everyone!!!! I just wanted to let you know that I won my 2nd level appeal with CIGNA this morning for the lap band...I had the conference call at 10am, and got the approval at 1110am!!!!!! I am sooooo very happy!!!!!! And for everyone else fighting their insurance companies---DON'T GIVE UP!!! It could be worth the fight!!!!!!

I was also denied by cigna please let me know the procedures that you took to apply for the appeal and to win it.

Can you please tell us how you won. I was just denied by Cigna this week because I didnot have 2 Doctors or professionally supervised weight loss programs for a min. of 26 weeks each. Did you have that? Or if not how did you get around it? I am at the end of my rope!!! What and how did you use for appeals? Jan

Me too! I was banded on September 18th. Cigna can be beat with persistance and hard work. Your PCP should be willing to take your word for it that you have been dieting and be willing to put it in his letter. You can provide him with the diets and monthly weigh-ins. Most doctor offices do not charge for monthly blood pressure checks and to step on a scale. If your doctor really believes that this surgery is your avenue of last resort than beg him/her to cooperate with you and take your word for it that you have been on Atkins, Pritikin, Fen/Phen, (wink-wink) Meridia etc. for the past six months. Cigna (Intracorp) will pay for this surgery if you jump through all their hoops. Call 1 800 253 6647 (Intracorp) and ask for your medical case manager. Get your "TC" number and go from there.
