Please help....

I live in the state of Alaska and have a friend who has been through all of her possible appeals with the insurance company and has been denied each and everytime. I had my surgery on May 9th and am down 75 pounds and lovin' every minute of it! Now, I want to help my friend along with the bigger goal of trying to help more people in this state. Alaska is the state with the biggest (no pun intended) ratio of obese people (can't remember the exact statistic off the top of my head but will try to get that). I've been asking people up here to help us by writing letters that talk about any health issues they had pre-op including meds, disabilities, etc., and how that was improved by surgery. I am getting some responses but we still need a LOT more. The ultimate goal is to get to the legislature and get them to pass a law that makes it so no one can be denied this surgery if it is in fact, medically necessary. If we get enough responses and get this to work, I will check with those that wrote the letters and I will try to put together some sort of package that anyone could use in any state. Please help us make this work. I know there are a lot of you out there that need the same help and like I said, we'll put something together that can be used beyond just Alaska.
