Need Help on next step with Cigna

Hi all, I received a letter today from BTC (disguised as Forest Hills...is this new?). Anyway, it says Cigna told them I don't have out-of-network coverage so won't review my request for surgery. I'm feeling very confused about next steps. Should I call BTC or Cigna or both? One reason I chose BTC was people said they were helpful with the insurance approval process, and I feel like I just got the brushoff. Also, I initially went directly to BTC, not through my PCP. Would getting her involved help? My employer switched companies last year so I've never even seen my PCP, which was why I went to BTC on my own. I feel like BTC should have told me if I needed to get my doctor in the loop. Is that expecting too much from them. I'm feeling very discouraged right now and need some advice. Any words of wisdom will be appreciated. Megan

Hey there Megan; I am a little surprised that BTC did not tell you that they were out of network with the insurance that you have. If I was in the same situation, I would talk to some surgeons in your area that accept your plan and have them recommend some PCP's that are WLS friendly. Then call Cigna, make that Dr your PCP and get that all important referral. Good luck! Judith

And, if you contact CIGNA, make SURE that you get the person's full name and location...
