How does this company function??? Paperwork arrived at their office on 7/17/03 and by 8/15/03 nothing had been processed. Multiple phone calls with all these nice peoiple saying they will take care of things only to find out nothing has happened. I am getting the royal run around! I bet if I needed my gallbladder out this would not be happening. They also informed me that I could not talk to the medical review people, only my doctor....Let's think about this....I am managing myself and my doctor who has so much time to just sit and wait on the phone while being told this and that....something smells there. Any of us who are working on approval for this sugery know the facts and can speak to anyone about what is involved. If not, you should be. BOO CIGNA>

Hey there; Well I have heard a rumor that I hope with all my heart is true... I have heard that there is talk that Cigna is being taken over by another insurance company (one that DOES approve the WLS without giving up your first born!!) Anyways, that would explain ALOT regarding their complete and total lack of professionalism, ethics, customer service and all around kindness! ~Judith

I have ahd the same problems with Cigna. The problem is this...you send the paperwork to Cigna but a company called Intercore actually does the pre-authorizations. Cigna does not send your paperwork over or something. There are two numbers Cigna - 800 462-7486 Intercore 412-747-7477 and 800-253-6647 Good luck!

The last writer is correct. Calling the 800# on the back of your card gets you a customer service rep that could be from one of a dozen cities. If you call that number 100 times you will get 100 different, and polite, people. All of them know nothing and can do absolutely nothing. They pretend that they will put your case on "priority issue." This means absolutely nothing. Intercorp is making all WLS decisions for Cigna. They are located in Pittsburg, PA. They do not want to talk to you but wont hang up on you either. If you are not talking to Pittsburgh you are wasting your time. It is long distance 412 747- 7477 but it is the office where all decisions are made. When you call take specific notes, get names, extension numbers and addresses. The address is 3200 ParkLane Drive Pittsburgh, PA 15275. It took me fifteen phone calls to get this highly guarded information! Good luck. JIM

Actually I took a part time job in a company that covers WLS and so Cigna is forced to be a secondary insurance. As a result, info went to Scranton and when I checked 3 weeks later was told it need to go to Intracorp. In 10 days and several phone calls later it finally did only to be sent back to Cigna because intracorp does not do secondary insurance. So I am back with Cigna, talking to a different person every day, sure they will call me back...when? When the world is a peace????? I'd bet on that before Cigna getting their sh*t together. I asked to speak to a supervisor today and we'll see if that helps. Does anyone know about complaining to the attorrney general in your state about insurance companies? I know it can be done I don't know the process. They (Cigna) told me I would have an answer in 30 days, now they tell me 20, I tell them that is not good enough because they said 30 and it is now officially 5 weeks since the info arrived!
