Lap band not covered

I have BCBS of Alabama insurance.I am very interested in having the lap band procedure however my insurance will not cover it they deem it investigational,they will cover gastric bypass but not this.Does anyone know how I can initiate a change in their stance on this procedure? Ganelle Campbell

Ganelle, Please investigate the lap band procedure VERY CAREFULLY. It is not all that it is being portrayed to be. Lots of long term problems with this device. Just check it out really carefully. If your insurance does pay for gastric bypass, I would seriously consider going that route. Some of us would be jazzed if it were that easy. Beats having to fight insurance for an approval. Blessings to you in whatever decision you make. Do lots of research and I'm sure you will make the right decision.
