United Healthcare is hard to approve

I have United healthcare and I need to see if it is hard for them to approve surgery and what major requirments to they need to be met.

Lorena, I too have UHC and from what I have gathered from my interaction that it depends on the policy. My company is relatively small so they only picked up the minimal policy which has along with it a direct exclusion for gastric bypass no matter the health issues. I have been round and round with the insurance carrier ad the company to no avail myself. I examined the self pay option but it was not possible and now am looking at changing to a new company for the insurance alone. Look through your benefits literature very thoroughly and this should give you some insight. I do know that there is a "rider policy" from UHC that will cover this and if your employer has picked it up then they are supposedly very easy to work with as long as you meet the medical necessity clauses. This was something my employer would not purchase for cost reasons. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have great success with your approval!
