HI" THIS IS MARY. WON MY APPEAL AFTER FIRST DENIEL. I GUESS IT WAS NOT SO BAD AFTER ALL. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO GET DENIED AND PAY A LAWYER JUST TO GET A CONSULT.. NOW I GUESS THE NEXT HURDLE IS THE PSYC. INTERVIEW. I HEARD THAT THEY HAVE DENIED ON THAT LEVEL TOO. SO WE WILL SEE. APPOINTMENT IS JULY 16,2003.

I hope I am posting the happy news of my win someday! Psych profiles are no big deal. Don't lie but don't volunteer a boatload of info either. They are looking for untreated depression, history of suicidal ideology- that means suicidal thoughts- post traumatic stress disorder or untreated eating disorder. Treated depression or any of the above is not a barrier to this surgery. They just want to make sure you are treated. If you need help for depression speak up and get it! They will also be grilling you to make sure you don't have any unrealistic expectations of surgery. It won't fix your life or change who you are. The post traumatic stress disorder is of concern because if it is related to molestation or rape the weight is a tool that has 'protected' the woman from what she would have found to be threatening attention. Ask to see the write up and discuss any concerns before submission. There should be no problems with that and it is your right under the new HIPAA regulations to see any and all parts of your medical record. Good luck! I'm happy for you!!!! Lola aka Christie Kay
