Second denial with Aetna because of poor application.
I have received my second denial letter. The first was because of an incomplete and incorrect application. The second was for the same reasons. The office person used the wrong billing code for the second time- even after prompts from Aetna, calls etc and a fax from me detailing the correct code and telling her why the other one was wrong.
I am pissed off. I E-mailed the surgeons on the lap team re: their staff's level of competence and my 2 denials due to clerical error. Nothing like aiming straight for the top. I also looked up the reviews of this doctor on AMOS and several pretty much say the same thing. Good doctor, crappy staff. One even names the person I am having problems with by first and last name.
If I don't receive satisfaction from this doctor's office I am going to patient relations and screaming. I have heard comments like 'Yeah, so what.' and 'so what do you want me to do about it?' when my insurance initially denied and the mistakes were hers.
I want surgery in this office. The surgeons are excellent, the hospital has a floor that specialises in bariatric pts and it is within my insurance network which will save a lot of $$. I threatened to walk down the street and go to another program but I don't want to. I want them to get their @#%$&% office staff on the ball!!!
BTW Aetna- God bless Vicki and Anne were super sweet. They are going to proof my next appeal for me and help me make corrections or augmentations. They were falling all over themselves making apologies but they had to go with the billing code submitted by my doctor's office!
