Hi, I have put in my request for WLS with my Tricare provider, but I am only just 40.8 BMI and I have no co-morbs. I do have gallstones and I have gerd, but I don't have anything more serious ( something I thought I would never regret!) I am anxious that they will turn me down, even though I meet their requirements. I want to have the surgery over here in Germany, there is a German doctor that they use here that is great. My friend just had her surgery and is doing great and I have heard about many others on the base. I know that I should just have faith that everything will work out if it is supposed to. I just wanted to see if anyone else has been through Tricare Prime and had to fight to have the surgery.

Hey, GERD and gallstones will cover you. I have Tricare Prime (in the US) and my BMI was 41 at the time of my surgery. I too had GERD and had already had my gallbladder removed due to stones. Basically, as long as you are at least 100 pounds overweight and have the problem(s) you listed, you should be covered by TriCare. I didn't have to fight to have the surgery, hell, they approved it in 2 days (wonder if I should be offended!!) Good luck with everything! Claudia
