Employer exclusion

I have BC/BS of Tenn PPO plan -- the problem is that my employer has put an exclusion on all types of bariatic surgeries and/or weight loss program including prescription medications. Does anyone know if this would be obesity discrimination? And what can I do about it? I really would like to have either the band procedure or the Lap gastric bypass -- Any suggestion would be greatly appreiciated. Michelle

Michelle, I am in the exact same boat that you are in. You have no idea what a comfort it is for me to know that I'm not alone!!! Please let me know if you get any info. on this question. I have basically posted the same question. I'll let you know if I hear anything too. I never thought about obesity discrimation. You may be on to something here. I am with a different insurance in Texas, but riding in your same boat. I would sure like to know if you find out anything about obesity discrimination.

I saw something on this web site about the Americans with Disabilities Act - you may want to research this - sorry I do not know. Good Luck
