Hello. My problem is that the insurance we have does not carry the rider for any type of surgery for weightloss. I do not know where to turn. Is it possible to fight an insurance company with the type of policy that is provided by my husband's employer? Any information you can tell me will be of great help. I am and have been experiencing several of the symptoms that come wih being over weight. Thank you

Hi Nancy, I am also preop hoping to be banded by July. If your insurance has a written exclusion that does not cover WLS then attempting to fight the insurance company is a waste of time. You need to contact the HR department where your husband works and talk to them about adding WLS to the plan that will be the only way to get it covered. If self pay is an option contact several local surgeons they may offer a reduced rate for self pays and if you get some of your testing done now such as cardiac workup, sleep apnea etc you may be able to have them paid for by the insurance get your pcp to set you up. Hope this info helps and Good Luck! Dont forget to check out the new Lap Band Board too! Lisa F
