Okay...I talked to my PCP in January. She has faxed my apaperwork to CIGAN at least 5 times. Finally on the last call they asked what surgeon she wanted me to see although my paperwork was still missing. she gave me the names of two and I looked them up and one only does BPD...but it looks like it woudl be fine. So I am pretty excited thinking maybe this is finally off the ground!! My husband called the Dr office to see if they are covered under our insurance and the nurse tells him that CIGNA requires 2 different diet attempts logged for 26 weeks and the last has to have been in the last year. Anyone know what they are looking for. If I had known this I could have done one and been ready. Any thought, ideas on how to work with this get around. I have made attempts but most of the compnaies I attempted with are out of business. And what are the chances of a diet workign when you are really feeling this is the answerr for you. I know my PCP would prescribe Xenecal and I am fine with that. But if it is working do they not let you have surgery?? Anyone who knows any info please let me know...I am quite frustrated which I am sure is part of their game. We give up and die from soem fat realted disease instead. Alice

I also have Cigna. It can be weigh****chers, TOPS, or going to your doctor each week to weigh in and have them document it. Anything where your weight is documented on a weekly basis is what they are looking for. I would not recommend Xenecal. My sister is a Pharmacist and the side effects of this drug are not the best. Most diets do work at first but when you stop the diet the weight comes back plus more. I think I you start a weigh in at your doctors office that will be enough along with a letter from your doctor and yourself giving the details of your attempt and why you need the surgery.
