I am a federal employee. I currently have GHP and am not even going to bother to submit a req for them to pay. I'm sure they will not. My primary Dr. is with Blue Cross Blue shield PPO but I have heard there is problems with pre approval. I do not want to select a new insurance co and then they not cover it. I would have to wait another year to chang again. Any supporting words, experience or suggestions from anyone?

Patti: I wish you good luck with this crazy process! I am in exactly the same boat. A Federal civil servant (who only has a couple weeks at end of November to change health plans, sheesh!) but with a HMO, probably harder to get approval than your PPO. Only suggestion I have is to let the surgeon's office staff do all the hard work for you; I understand from previous posts that surgeon's office will take the ball! You just need the right Doctor and staff I guess. So, hopefully, you won't have to go thru the hassles that you are expecting to. Last resort is some sort of appeal, which is not unusual, and legal assistance. There are links herein for all this kind of info. Again, best of luck. And, if there are any other "silly servants" out there like Patti and I, we need to hear from you. God bless.
