insurance denied-now what?

I live and work in Omaha, Ne.  I work for a company that excluded weight loss surgery.  I have been told by 2 doctors that I need surgery.  So, now I am considering looking for a new job with a company that has insurance that it would be covered.  Any suggestions on how to do this research??

Unfortunately, it may not bode well for your interview if you mention getting healthcare that covers this surgery as your reason for leaving. ;-)

The only thing I can think of is to look in your network to see if you know people who work at companies you are interested in. Linkedin.com may help with this. Then, ask them questions if you have that level of comfort. Because the coverage is company specific, you won't be able to go with just an insurer and plan. You'll need to figure it out to the policy level.

Good luck!

I am trying to do some research from people that either work at companies I am interested in or know someone that works there.  I agree I wouldn't mention it as a reason that I am looking for a new job.

This is a tough one because most people do not have WLS benefits, the rider an employer has to have to provide this is very expensive.

Starbucks used to have WLS benefits, last I checked they still do and you only have to be part time.  What if you keep your job and work at Starbucks part time?
