Insurance won't cover so I need $25,000
VSG on 10/15/12
I found out my insurance (CIGNA Open Access Plus) won't cover it at all due to the type of coverage that my company decided we needed to have. So I decided I want to finance it myself, either through credit cards or loans. So I would like tips on which lenders are credible and which ones you have used to maybe i can piece together the amount I need. I appreciate any information you all can provide.
Thanks!
Thanks!
There is no need to pay $20k+ to get WLS. Head just over the border to Mexico and get it done for $5-8k. There are seversal veteran Bariatric surgeons to choose from who cater to U.S. clients. Virtually every surgeon you will run across offering WLS has tons of feedback on them that you can find with simple google searches.
If you are dead set against going to Mexico, shop around. I've seen WLS offered at various places throughout the Unitied States for as little as 10k.

Hi I just wanted to let you know and anyone else that has to self pay, that I have been looking into VSG weight loss surgery and I do not have insurance. My best friend had Gastric Bypass at Jupiter medical Center by Dr. Jefferson Vaughan in Jupiter FL and I know a few other people that had their WLS there and they finance EVERYONE!! My friend actually had insurance but I don't. It is a great hospital and he is a great Doctor. It is a teaching hospital also where he actually teaches other Doctors about WLS.
"VSG surgery" is $5300 down and they will finance the rest through the hospital, total is about $16,000
"Gastric Bypass" is $7300 down and they finance the rest, total is about $26,000
"Lap band" is about $4200 down, from what I remember and the total is about $12,500
I am so excited, still trying to save the rest of the $5300, almost there....
Well good luck, hope you get your surgery, $25,000 is a lot of money.. Look into Jupiter Medical Center... I have pics of my friend before and after and in the hospital with the Doctors and more info if you want it... :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I decided to look around and found that Abington Memorial Hospital in PA has self pay rates. I have the 2012 rates for a VSG, it will be $7000 hospital fee, $1736 Surgeons Fee, plus the cost of Anethesia. A lot less than $25000. They also have self pay rates for the other surgeries and I highly recommend them.
