Financing?

Has anyone who has had WLS financed their surgery? Since my insurance does not cover any WLS whatsoever, my Lap Band surgery is looking pretty dismal at this point. Since I don't have a spare 18 k laying around I have no idea how I'm going to pay for this. My surgeon of choice does not offer any financing and requires everything upfront.  There is another doctor in town that does do WLS, however from what my research tells me, he's not fit to carve a Thanksgiving turkey. Has anyone out there financed their surgery?

Hey, I am not paying out of pocket but  have you tried appyling for a personal loan with a bank or lending company (Citifinancial or a small town lender,)?  If all else fails that may be an avenue to try.  Good luck!

There are companies who finance WLS.  Do a google search.  Another option is going to MX.  Very cheaper rates there for out of pocket and much more common than any one thinks.  Lap band will run you around $7K there, and VSG will cost you about $8 - $9K depending on the doc.  Post in each of those forums about people who went out of CON-US for surgeries and you'll get alot of answers.

Hi,

Just a note, please reconsider having lapband surgery.  There are so many people who have had a lot of problems with their lapbands and had to have them removed.  I would like you to read a little more about "Sleeve" WLS instead.  It is a faster way to lose weight, and much safe for you.  And yes there are places that do finance WLS.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask me any questions that you have.  If you read much on this board you will see where so many people have what they call a revision--having their lapband removed and having sleeve surgery. I once thought about having lapband surgery until I educated my self and found out it wasn't what I wanted.  I am so very happy that I had sleeve WLS instead.

Hugs and take care
