Priority Health?

 HI everyone! I was just wanting to hear any stories about Priority Health Insurance.  I started my journey  I am going to my first WLS consult on Aug. 5th!!  I am at 300lbs currently and I am 5'3  so I know I meet the 200% over ideal body weight. I only have borderline high blood pressure all other labs are good. I just wanted to hear any input about if they denied or approved you and how easy the process was?

Hey there! I have Priority Health as well. They aren't horriable they aren't great. They have VERY strict policies and hold you too it. So #1 6 month Medically supervised diet, and they have very strict guidlines for these that have to be followed to the T. The only way to avoid this is a BMI over 55 (yours is 53 so your about 10 lbs to light) Or if you have a BMi 45 or higher with one or more co morbidities. You really should go to priorityhealth.com and in the search box (top right hand of the screen) enter Bariatric surgery and fin the link that lists the requirements for surgery. Good luck. I had to do the diet and now I have been approved to see the surgeon on August 6th. Next step getting approval for surgery!

 Thank You for the tips. I have called Priority Health just to see what the requirements are and thank god I do have a six month supervised diet under a doctors supervision within the last 24 months. I actually go to the seminar on August 5th and then hopefully meet with Dr. Zeni after that. I just want to be fully prepared going in.  Looks like I am but then again we will see....lol  I do know these insurance companies have very strict poilicies and it always seems easier than it really is. I am very excited though. I have already been to my pcp with he says I am a good candidate.  You actually have to go through him to get to Dr. Zeni.

I'm glad you had the 6 month diet already it can be very discouraging to have to do it. I mean really would we be going for surgery if all these Diets worked?

I used to live in Livonia as well. Now we are in the Grand rapids area! I miss it on that side of the state!
