Gallbladder removal + WLS

I am still waiting for approval from BCBS but I know I will need to have my gallbladder removed even if they deny WLS. (Which i will fight anyway since it is explicitly allowed and I fit the criteria)

However, is there a standard way to remind them that I will need gallbladder surgery regardless, and that I will get that removed in my WLS? Has anyone done anything similar?

Hey there. I know it varies by the doctor and what they are willing to do.  I have to get mine out at one point (I have gallstones however they don’t bother me yet).  I had two different opinions on the subject both bariatric doctors.

The first guy told me that he doesn’t mind taking out the gallbladder during surgery. And I didn’t know any better and was going to have him do it, until I switched surgeons.
My second surgeon (who is doing my surgery) will NOT remove the Gall Bladder because keeping people that are heavy under longer poses more risks, therefore he said the gallbladder comes out at a different date because he wasn’t risking it.   I know that each doctor does it differently and I have known people that got it out at the same time. But its not uncommon to have a gallbladder removed at the same time as WLS..   Hope this helps!
